Now, start the entire process over (that you did to the plug to create the mold) on the newly created mold in order to fabricate the final part. Wet sand 400, then 600, machine buff with the liquid compound, machine buff with the sealer glaze and apply 5 coats of wax. |
Coat of wax on mold that is ready for wiping in and off. Wait over-night to apply PVA to the mold. Like before, carefully shoot the PVA while trying to avoid runs |
See little run in PVA?. Since the run is "positive" in the mold, it will show up as an indentation in the final part which can easily be filled before painting so no big deal. |
Spray the Gelcoat |
Let dry and begin reinforcing. |
First the edges... |
Then the remainder of the final part. |
Don't forget your logo |
The part is ready |
Pull it out, wash it off and get ready for final paint prep. All that wrinkled stuff is PVA. Comes right off. |
Just released and briefly wiped. |
Sand to flatten. |
Fill and block sand as necessary. |
Make sure everything fits and the brackets are aligned. |
Use a good catylized primer (HOK) that matches with the paint system. |
