Excellent Sites for reference and to purchase Fiberglass Craft Supplies:

Initially, My plan was to simply fabricate a fiberglass shroud for the radiator. As I got to reading about fiberglass I found the John R. Sweet site and the "how to" make a mold. The site is dedicated to making fiberglass molds for the production of kayaks, however the principle is exactly the same for motorcycle or automobile components. So, I decided to make a plug, then a mold of the plug and then a "production" part. The first step is making the "plug." The plug is the life-size model of the component to be molded. In this case, I actually put the plug on my bike and rode around with it for about 6 months before striping it and going through the process in these pages. I purchased most of the things I needed from John R. Sweet & Co and used Fiberglass Warehouse for the remainder of the items. Both are extremely helpful and ship quickly. |
